This was my first walk with snowshoes (racquets)! Simon had tried it previously with his friends, so he had a bit more knowledge about it than me. We both really enjoyed this hike with snowshoes and decided that we wanted to get more experience in using them throughout the season. The lift and hiking path is also used by skiers.
The hike starts at the top of Rellerli mountain and thus requires a ride in a cabin lift. Saying this, it is possible to hike to the top of Rellerli from Schönried village. More information about the winter hike to the summit is on our blog post here.
The walking path was quite short and straight forward. The ridge path is very wide and allows stunning views in all directions. The climb is quite tough and steep, but definitely worth it to see the views.
There is a restaurant Berghaus Rellerli at Rellerli summit, with stunning views from the terrace. Cable car cabins to nearby Rinderberg mountain are also open for private dining at specific dates. Prices and dates are available here.
I am quite disappointed, but this winter hike is not featured on any websites. More information about winter activities around Rellerli can be found on Gstaad Tourist website here or SchweizMobil website here.
