DRIVING
In late December, the road reaching to the top parking was snowy and partially icy since the junction with Chandolin road. The incline was manageable with our 2-wheel drive without the chains. The road bends are quite sharp.
Since we started spending our New Year eves in Switzerland, we have a tendency to end the old year and start the New Year on an active note. This year, we ended 2020 and started 2021 in Sierre, visiting Crans Montana, St Luc and Zinal. Our last hike of 2020 was in St. Luc. The sunny village overlooks into 4000m mountain peaks, including Matterhorn.
We passed hikers (some were using snowshoes), dog walkers, skiers.
There is Hébergement Restaurant at the top of Tignousa. Right next to the restaurant, there is a great play park for kids with varying toys.
We would advise hiking the loop from the West to the East as the Western side of the loop partially joins with a shallow ski slope.
We hiked this route with a sledge, pulling our son most of the way up and sliding down with him later. The whole walk is very enjoyable. The West side is mostly between the forest trees; while most of the East side is exposed and faces the mountains. Top of Tignousa station seems very inviting and acts as a perfect mid-way break, where one can enjoy the views with a cup of coffee while the kids play around. We took our time while walking through the top points, breathing in the beauty of the place. We found the East side of the path to be easy to slide down on the sledge - the path was at a road's width and there were not many bends.
