A nice, short walk, but the February 2021 weather has made the path slightly confusing. The first half of the walk was covered in deep snow; the other half completely melted down (due to high sun exposure). To make things easier, I would recommend hiking after heavy snowfall or once the snow has fully melted down.
The hike starts from a ski resort amongst many people, but the walk itself is quiet and we did not meet anyone.

The Ski School has a take-away with food, drinks and snacks. Restaurant Zitbödeli is located close to the hiking route and across the river, there are a number of picnic tables & BBQ spots (with wood supply!). Next to them, there is a kids play park.
We skipped the final part of the Oberlach Trail & followed a shortcut. The first half of the path was not prepared & snowshoes are recommended; the other half followed a road without snow. Starting on the left and behind the ski ticket booth, the path follows the side of a slope. It got very quiet quickly & opened up to the views on the side and behind us. After the small ascent through the snow, we reached a compacted road, which soon was fully exposed as the snow melted down. The way back was partially through a forest & next to the river. There was also a small rock waterfall on the side.
A full overview of the walk can be found on SchweizMobil website here. Oberlach Trail is also featured on La Gruyère Tourist website here & a downloadable pdf here.
