One of the hikes around Les Mosses, which has a large exposure to sun. Cold snow always makes us seek sunny pathways and this route seemed like an ideal choice. There were plenty of hikers, ski tourers, adults and kids using sledges and dog walkers.

La Buvette De La Lécherette is in La Lécherette village and Cabane des Monts-Chevreuils is at the top of Monts Chevreuils.

There are two similar routes around this side of the mountain:

The path we followed was a multi-use route "C", without the short loop at the end & catching no. 5 route for the ascent to La Chuantse. I would highly recommend this end deviation, as this is the part of the walk which is exposed towards Lac de l'Hongrin. The trail varied between a steep, thin path to a road width path - all prepared with compacted snow. To reach the first turn to the left, the ascent was very steep and in the forest. To avoid this part of hiking, it is possible to park at the recommended coordinates. From there until the deviation, the path follows a wider road. The deviation is quite steep and much shallower. The view at the lake first unfolded behind the trees, when it wasn't expected - it was truly breathtaking! We did this hike only with winter hiking boots, but it also seems like a perfect opportunity to use snowshoes (raquettes).

Information on both routes is available on Aigle-Leysin-LesMosses Tourist website - route 'C' is available here and route no. 5 is available here. The list of all winter activities in the area can also be accessed on the Tourist website here (pdf form). Winter hikes can also be viewed on SchweizMobil Winter website here. General information about La Lécherette & Les Mosses villages can be found on MySwitzerland website here.
