We found ourselves to be in this awkward weather transition time - there was not enough snow for winter sports and the snow has not melted yet for summer hiking. We really wanted to do some activities and luckily, we found this nice road trail. We packed some tea in the thermos and we set on our way! We didn't come across benches but it was easy to find a spot at the surrounding meadows. We passed a few walkers and a few cars.

The whole route was on a single lane road, which was handy for the timing of the year. The road was easy to climb, the gradient was not steep and there was no ice or snow on the road itself. The ascent was steady and the walk did not require any special hiking equipment. The views were clear towards Gstaad and surrounding mountains, without any major obstructions. The small elevation gain also made it a nice walk for the start of the hiking season.

It is possible to continue hiking until Wispile ridge or summit. It is also possible to cut the walk shorted by taking the cable car up or down. Information on the opening of cable cars in the region can be accessed here.

We did this hike in 2018. Since then, a new, large playground for kids opened near the ski lift from Gstaad. More information about it can be found here.
