We found that during this winter season (2017-2018), the skies were rarely fully clear. This day, we woke up to a perfect blue sky and bright sun, we thought it was a perfect day to hunt some stunning views! To start this hike, we took the cable car lift to the top of Eggli mountain - such a beautiful place. The pathway was nicely prepared and the snow was compacted. It was quite a busy hiking route. There is Bergrestaurant Eggli at the top of cabin lift stations.
The start of the hike started with a short and sharp descent. I struggled slightly to get down and I thought it was slightly icy. After that, it was a continuous ascent towards Eggli summit. This part of the path was next to the ski slope and ski lift, so we were careful to stay at the edge of the path. The views from the top of Eggli were breathtaking and we spend some time looking around and taking pictures. The descent of the hike was far from ski slopes and it became rather quiet. Once we finished the major decline, the trail was quite flat until the last hill to get to the cable car. The ascent was combined with ski slopes so we stayed at the edge of the compacted snow.
Top of Eggli also offers a tobbogan run (sledge route) to Gstaad.
