When we did this loop hike, we have already hiked quite a lot around Saanenland and we were in search of a place which was close to Gstaad and yet with views we didn't know as well. During the majority of the pathway, we were walking facing views. It ended up being a beautiful scenic walk, which was not very popular or crowded with hikers. We didn't spot any obvious picnic areas, but it was easy to find a spot around the meadows. There is also a burger restaurant McCarthy's close by the train station.
We started with climbing up the road next to and inside the forest following route 46. Once we turned away from the street, I felt quite stunned with the beautiful wood sorrel, which was surrounding us everywhere. The views were beautiful every time we stepped into the meadows. The path going in and out of the forest was a single track. Later, we followed a gravel car-width way, with incredible views towards the mountains surrounding Château-d'Œx and later, towards the valley. On the return we walked past Gérignoz, which meant that we had to climb up the hill to get back to the car.
We put this loop hike together ourselves. More information about hiking routes around Gerignoz can be found on SchweizMobil website here.
