What a great walk on a sunny day! The loop, which we walked partly goes through the tree Arboretum, which is a stunning place for kids and adults at any age. It was a rather hot afternoon when we started hiking, so we enjoyed being in the forest shadows initially. We would recommend taking a baby backpack with you due to a number of steps and tree roots; but we did come across a family with a pram who did parts of this route. We met quite a number of people on this route, mainly around Arboretum. There were also a few fishermen at the river banks. We chose our way back through the fields, but you can easily adjust the pathway if you prefer staying in the forest on the way back. There was a lot of people sitting around Arboretum meadows, where it was possible to organise picnics. There were also picnic benches near the river. We didn't spot any obvious BBQ points throughout this walk.
The Arboretum has a number of pathways and I think it is easy just to spend the day going around it. Our walk only past through the side of Arboretum. I can't wait until our son is a little bigger for us to go back there to explore all the rare trees together.
The walk started by going through the village, which was very quiet and pretty. Shortly after we crossed between the buildings we entered the forest. Once reaching the Arboretum, there were information boards on the routes and a box for those who wish to donate something for the maintenance of the forest. The pathway followed the river, took us through some man-made ponds and timber platforms. There was also a number of steps and a few steeper ascents before reaching the turning point of the loop. Sharper ascents were rather short and I think they were quite ok to walk. Once we crossed the final bridge, it was quite fast to go back. The way lead us through wide forest roads until we reached an orchard, where we found a few benches and information boards about the fruit trees. From there, we followed single track tarmac roads through the fields.
We have put this route together by ourselves, however, you can refer to SchweizMobil website for hiking routes here.
