We spend a few days at an AirBnB rented flat at Münsingen before getting our flat in the mountains. We were quire eager to explore this area, while we were there. This was an enjoyable hike, but I think it is more suited for someone living nearby the area. The ascent of over 800m is something one can do easily within Switzerland and achieve much nicer views around. I did enjoy this hike and the views at the time, but I would not drive over for an hour to do it. Saying this, it is a part of an Alpine Panorama Trail no. 3. I passed a few hikers around and a few local farmers.
There are a number of restaurants and cafes in both, Münsingen and Toffen. On the hiking route, I came across a self-service honesty shop with carrots and potatoes. It was easy to find a spot for a picnic on the surrounding meadows.
The path varied between a forest way, tarmac and dirt/gravel single lane road. Once crossing through the housing area and the river, the route started ascending. There were many steps and a small bridge, while hiking through the forest. Once the path reached the meadows, I enjoyed the views towards river Aare. As I was getting higher in elevation, more views started showing up. Above the meadows in the far distance, the Alps started being visible. I came across many cows and a few tractors, which I am sure would make kids rather happy! Once I reached Toffen, I decided to visit Toffen Castle, but unfortunately, it was a private residence.
