We have walked this route with our friends who have visited us for a few days. This is a great scenic route, which we put together by ourselves. The views were beautiful throughout the hike and the overall ascent was quite smooth. We visited Rellerli summit many times and each time there were many people and a lot of kids playing around.

Unfortunately, there is no public transport available in this location. The hike is only one way, so a second car is needed to bring back the first car from Mittelberg Rd. There are a few benches on the way and a lot of seating at Rellerli summit. I was pregnant when we did this hike and I appreciated the benches being available for short breaks. We met a few but not many hikers before reaching Rellerli. We came across more people on the way down from the summit.

The hike commenced with a single lane road with briefly steep ascents. There were many trees around at the start, but the views kept opening up shortly. Later, the pathway followed a single track through meadows and the incline was much easier. We even found some wild blueberries right next to the pathway and came across a few mushroom-pickers. We had a small break at Rellerli summit, before starting to decline towards Schönried. The descent is quite steep at the start but it gets smoother quite soon. The whole decline is a car-width way, mostly with gravel. There is a small chalet on the way down, with nicely curved seats from wood trunks. After a while of walking through the grass / meadows, the pathways enters a forest until reaching the cabin lift station. Closer to the bottom, the pathway also took us through a small bridge over the stream in the forest.

There is a restaurant Berghaus Rellerli at Rellerli summit, with stunning views from the terrace. There are also plenty of activities for kids and adults next to the restaurant - a toboggan run, mini train, swings. The pathway down from Rellerli to Schönried is also popular amongst mountain bikers. There are also scooters for rental at the top station, which you can leave later at the bottom station.

There is a possibility of cutting this walk short by taking the Rellerli cabin lift down.

Coming up to Rellerli summit with a lift up and down is also a beautiful idea for a scenic picnic or lunch at the restaurant.

Cable car cabins to nearby Rinderberg mountain are also open for private dining at specific dates. Prices and dates are available here.

Climbing Rellerli summit from Schönried and back seems to be a more popular hike. More information about this hike is in our "Rellerli summit" post here.
