Les Pléiades is a very famous Prealps hiking area in Vaud. In winter, it is a small skiing resort; while in warmer weather the area offers plenty of walks. Les Pléiades are famous to visit during spring time, when narcissus are in bloom. During spring, it may be uneasy to find a parking spot, when in summer there was plenty of free spaces.
There is Restaurant des Pléiades close to the summit and train station. It also offered plenty of toys in play park and a beautiful view terrace onto lake Léman. There was a smaller play park around the summit and a solar system installation. We found a few BBQ spots and tables around the peak. We kept spotting benches throughout the walk. At the end of our parking, there is also a restaurant Le 1209 with a pretty terrace overlooking into Alliaz and Villard-sur-Chamby.
The hike we chose to do was a combination of a few walks, rather than a marked route on Les Pléiades website. We wanted to visit the summit, while walking for slightly longer than the suggested routes online.
The hike started in a forest on a tarmac road until we turned right towards a small forest path. Here, we found a lot of information boards about local insects and birds. Shortly after reaching parking des Pautex, we started seeing views onto the mountains. The views got better and better as we continued climbing in elevation. The path varied between gravel car-width road and cut grass path. We spend some time around the summit, enjoying the views and the solar system installation. There were two possibilities for us to go back to our parking - by mistake we took the less interesting path following the railway line.
At the time when we visited Les Pléiades, there was a combo offer for the train and a meal at the Restaurant des Pléiades. Saying this, I was unable to find any reference to this offer online.
