Our first hiking experience in Switzerland! We had just temporarily arrived to Fribourg before renting our flat in Gstaad region. We wanted to explore the nearby mountains as we still had a lot of energy in us after our 3-week hiking vacation. At the time, we felt quite satisfied with the climb. Looking back at this hike, I think there are more interesting routes one can take. We were quite unlucky that the weather wasn't too nice and there were many clouds and a fog. This meant that we didn't see the views we would have normally if it was clear.

There were not many benches on this route, but it was easy to sit anywhere around the summit. We did't come across many hikers, but there were quite a few people at the peak.

Until the cabin lift, the hike followed a very pleasant walk through a nice forest. The path was quite thin. After the cabin lift, the path continued through the forest, but it wasn't as pleasant. We followed the path underneath the lift, but the views were not as magnificent as during some other hikes we had done. The paths were quite thin, but it was also easy enough to walk on the grass next to us. The top itself had nice meadows and pleasant views. The visibility was quite limited because of the fog, but we really enjoyed our time at the summit. Majority of the way back followed the same route, which we took when climbing to the summit.

There is a possibility of taking the cabin lift to or from the summit and cutting this hike shorter. More information about the cabin lift and pricing can be found here.
