What an ideal little hike for the family! We found this hike very child friendly and easy. We definitely recommend this hike if you are passing by the area. While most people visiting Saanenland go for hikes around Gstaad, we enjoyed this quiet and magical walk to lake Seebergsee. We didn't come across any benches, but it is very easy to set up a picnic anywhere on this route, including the lake (that's what we did!). We came across children and dog walkers. There is a Seebergsee restaurant nearby, but not directly on this hiking route.

A single track pathway goes between meadows for the entire way to the lake. There was a number of cars parked at the parking but we didn't pass by many hikers. It almost felt we were alone in this beautiful scenic place. Following the route, we crossed a few steps made of large stones, which were covered in moss. The view slightly changed as we were approaching our destination. The lake was quite hidden and there was a small ascent, which guided us to a beautiful view at the lake from above. On the way down, we had to pass by many cows, which seemed very friendly. The descent was quite steep and between stones. There were a number of families with kids and dogs around the lake. The water was very clear and fresh - it is also allowed to swim at the lake. On the way back, you can follow the same route - we deviated from the pathway to experience more views!
