One of the prettiest walks we have done in Switzerland. It was a heavy winter and it took much longer than usual for the snow to melt. We were waiting for a while to access higher altitudes and we were very eager to do this hike in early July. The waterfall we climbed to was very pretty and the mountains seemed grand and beautiful. There was plenty of opportunities for pictures. The sight of the waterfall kept changing as we were approaching it. We have met a few hikers, but it was not an overly busy route as many people take the lifts up to Glacier 3000. There were not many benches on this route, but it is easy to find a picnic spot on the meadows / grass.

Most of the pathway is exposed to stunning views. The ascent is quite steady and steep, making it quite challenging. Majority of the pathway is on a gravel road until top of Oldenegg, where we walked on a single track for a while. We slipped a number of times on little stones and we would recommend footwear with good grip / deep soles. The pathway is exposed to the sun, which may be important on a hot day. As we climbed upwards, the view towards Gsteig valley became more visible. Once we reached the lift station top, we enjoyed exploring it in more detail - Oldenegg lift was not working when we hiked.

Glacier 3000 also offers plenty of beautiful hikes. More information about the routes can be found on Glacier3000 website here and SchweizMobil website here.
