Before doing this hike, we already explored Eggli mountain in winter time. We were quite eager to experience the same views we saw, but in summer time. Eggli mountain has its main summit at 1,660 m; but it also has a smaller peak at the height of 1557 m, which is easily accessible and offers pretty views. It is not a very popular hiking route and we didn't meet many hikers along the way. We also didn't come across many benches on the way up or down, but there were plenty of chairs for use around Bergrestaurant Eggli.

We started ascending Eggli on the West side of this hiking loop. The route was following either a road or a single, thin trail. We crossed the forest very briefly, but the majority of the route was between the meadows. We enjoyed the views on our side towards Gstaad and the surrounding mountains (in particular Horneggli and Wassengrat). Behind us, we had a nice view at distant Schönried, Gstaad outskirts and Saanen. The restaurant was closed when we climbed to it at the end of May, but we were able to use their chairs for a small break, enjoying the beautiful views around us. The decline seemed slightly steeper than the ascent and majority of the route was on small meadows or between the trees. The cable car pylons allowed us to face the views towards Turbach Valley. All of the trees surrounding the cable car were cut away, leaving a beautiful, linear viewpoint window.

There is a possibility of cutting this hike short by taking one of the lifts up or down. More information on the opening of the lifts can be accessed here.
