It is a beautiful hike and it is great if you don't live too far away. I wouldn't say it is a hike for which you can drive more than an hour or so. We met a lot of hikers and a lot of kids. I have also noticed that some steps and bridges had a side climbing board for dogs. It is a great place for a hot day. The North part of the loop had dense/wet air and most of the pathway is in the forest. There are a few picnic points on the route. Unfortunately we didn't take many pictures, but we will definitely revisit this walk and add some pictures into this post!
The trail has two distinctive parts - the North part is in the forest; while the South part goes through fields and the forest. The whole trail is quite nice to explore but the Northern part is definitely more interesting to follow with the terrain. The beginning of the route starts at the end of Fribourg's old town and starts following a road and the river into Gottéron Valley. Once in the forest, there are some steps and the pathway changes in width. The route includes a few wooden or metal platforms and bridges. There are a series of pretty small waterfalls from rocks. The trail varies from rather flat sections to steeper inclines. The Southern way back starts with some sun exposure and follows a dirt road and a single grass track. Once entering the forest, the pathways are rather wide and simple to follow.
